Wagner’s Ring, Decoded: A Fresh Take on the Music and Meaning Behind the Masterpiece

My dear friend Charles has written this book about Wagner's Ring. It's not like other books on the Ring, it is written with humanity, insight and passion.

When I first began working on Wagnerian roles, I asked Charles to write down his thoughts on the roles I was studying, as I knew he would have great insight. He wrote a few pages on each role for me, and this is what encouraged him to write the book. He wrote it over 10 years, and is now coming up to his 90th birthday!

I visited him recently and we talked a lot about the book and how much it meant to him to have finished it. It’s his legacy.
